Written by: Cathy Carroll for Vintage, Paint and more...
Today, I'm going to show you a little
"Tin Can Therapy"
that I did.
I needed some organization for all my
pens, scissors, and tools that I use in my craft room.
I wanted something that was
pretty, vintage, and usable....
I have used tin cans in different projects over the years and so,
I love the way they turned out.
These are so easy to make...
I saved tin cans
( it took only a couple days at our house to get these.)
Then I painted them all inside and out
with DIY white chalk paint.
I keep some made up at all times for just such
spur of the moment projects.
Then I just began embellishing them with bits of
burlap, lace, jute, raffia, and scrapbook supplies.
It took very little time and was so relaxing for me
(thus the therapy portion).
I placed several on a lazy susan that I have had forever.
( You can pick these up at Wal-Mart in the storage section)
This one holds all my different pens and markers I use.
I also stacked a larger one on top of the smaller ones.
I like the added interest the height brings.
Some were just placed on a small box next to my desk -
these hold scissors and scrapbook tools....
So pretty, so vintage and so useful..
fill my need completely ....
Here are some of them all done up:
Ribbon and buttons....
Burlap and printed ribbon.....
Jute and a scrapbook embellishment.....
Jute, old book page and a calender sticker.....
Burlap, lace, lace doily, crochet flower and flower button...
Old book page, lace, burlap, twine, a tag and a key....
Drop cloth fabric, and a pic of my grandmother and aunts.....
Jute and a pearl button....
Raffia and a star fish charm.....
Burlap, a lace medallion and a gold heart charm.....
And they all come together to make such a pretty combination....
so vintage and so useful....
they keep all my most used items close and organized....
I am in love with them....
They fit right in to my decor and really add to the feel....
Try it...
tin can therapy can be so rewarding....
