Good morning friends...
This morning I am going to show you my drop cloth pumpkins I made. I have seen so many kind of pumpkins, made out of so many types of mediums this fall and I am in love with all of them. Especially the cloth ones- sweaters, velvet, old shirts, burlap, vintage handkerchiefs.... so, I decided to go to my favorite fabric and make drop cloth pumpkins.
Isn't it cute as all get out.... I have to tell you I first saw these when Carol at Art and Sand made some very similar. (Thank you Carol.) She actually had gotten the tutorial from AKA Design. So, I just marched my little self right over there and followed her instructions for Cinderella Pumpkins. (Thank you Shannon and Dean for sharing.) They are so simple to make. I made four of them in one evening while watching TV. After making the fabric portion of the pumpkin I hot glued some moss and a piece of old stick that I had. I think they look so rustic and cute....
Then I decided to display them in a basket on the fireplace hearth. I picked this basket up at the thrift store last summer. I think I got it for like $1 or maybe even $.50 but it was ugly and old and needed some care. So, I painted it with DIY white chalk paint. I then filled it with two towels to take up some space and then some faux leaves I had.
I added the drop cloth pumpkins and some little orange fabric pumpkins that I have had for years just to give it a pop of color.
I then tied a bit of burlap ribbon around the basket to tie in with the drop cloth pumpkins. I really love this little vignette next to the fireplace.
It has everything I am loving this year ... drop cloth fabric, burlap, and white painted container. Oh, yes...
What unusual item have you made pumpkins from? I am having so much fun seeing all the different types of pumpkins folks are coming up with this year. Just when I think I have seen it all someone does one with something I would never dream of.
This week Miss A and I are going to start working on our Halloween decor. She loves the creepy, gory side of Halloween (me, not so much) so, we will have to have a little of that here.
Until next time,
have a great day

Your pumpkins look terrific, love the moss and stump in top. I love making things with paint cloth, it's such a great texture and easy to work with. I make several table runners, pillow covers, anything else that comes up I see on blog land I want to make. Can make several pieces out of one cloth. I'm hoping to make bedroom curtains and stencil them. Your pumpkins are so cute in that basket with the orange ones and the ribbon around the basket. Great idea filing basket with towels to take up some of the room in basket. Your display is inspiring. Happy weekend
