I was in definite need of a paper organizer for my desk. I am constantly putting papers that need to be attended to in small little piles all over my desk - thus they get in the way. When I went in search of one they were so expensive I decided I could live life without a paper organizer or find a way to make one myself. Then one morning Miss A left an empty cereal box on the kitchen counter for me and the wheels in my head started turning.
I saved several cereal boxes thinking I could just make my own and save a lot of money.
I cut each one on a diagonal slightly smaller than the previous one. You can see how I did it above. I did mine so they were standing vertically but if you need wider slots you could turn them horizontally to accommodate your papers. I taped them together with some masking tape to make sure they were secure.
I then covered them with some scrapbook paper I had on hand that coordinated with the other things on my desk.
I glued a little buttonhole trim around the edge of the boxes and added label holders to label each compartment.
Here it is. I love it. It goes with my decor in my craft space and almost matches the ribbon on the bulletin board. I love that I can now place all those little piles of papers in an organized place and up off my desk.
Another view of it's place on my desk amongst all the vintage pieces there. I think it's so cute and it cost me nothing at all because everything I used I had on hand. Those are the projects I love most.
What have you done made lately to that solves a big problem you had? I would love to hear about it in the comments below. I answer all comments with email.
Until next time have fun creating something you love.
Hugs,

Very cute! I did a stacking tray one like that a couple of years ago, but the weight of the papers was always too much and it just never looked right. This one looks like it would hold up MUCH better!
